Nos últimos anos as novas tecnologias digitais tornaram possível o surgimento de novas formas de ver, fazer e partilhar imagens. Projetos participativos como “Life in a Day” de Ridley Scott (um filme inteiramente feito com material captado por pessoas de todo o mundo com as suas próprias camaras), a crescente popularidade dos documentários interativos (expostos na net bem como em instalações) e as tecnologias de baixo custo disponíveis na net e nos telemóveis (que permitem novas e criativas formas de consumir e partilhar imagens e sons) constituem exemplos que nos desafiam a repensar as nossas noções de imagem bem como as nossas práticas de fazer imagens.
O curso combina teoria e prática e introduzirá os estudantes ao campo da etnografia visual interativa.
Conta com a colaboração do coletivo artístico LeftHandRotation que tem focado o seu trabalho em processos de gentrificação urbana.
O trabalho prático inclui saídas de campo onde os estudantes serão desafiados a refletir e a documentar – recorrendo à fotografia, vídeo e som – processos de gentrificação urbana em curso na cidade de Lisboa.

PRESENTATION
In recent years, new digital technologies have made possible the emergence of new ways of seeing, making and sharing images. Participatory projects as " Life in a Day " by Ridley Scott ( a film entirely made with material captured by people all over the world with their own cameras ) , the growing popularity of interactive documentaries and the dissemination of low cost technologies available on the net and mobile phones (which allow new and creative ways to consume and share images and sounds ) are examples that challenge us to rethink our notions of image and our practices of image making .
The course combines theory and practice and will introduce students to the field of interactive visual ethnography and counts with the collaboration of the artistic collective LeftHandRotation who has focused his work on processes of urban gentrification.
Practical work includes field trips where students will be challenged to reflect and record- using photography, video and sound – ongoing processes of urban gentrification in the city of Lisbon
